Volunteer Opportunities
As a Master Gardener, volunteer and education hours are critical to your
continued certification. MGGD keeps in sync with the current MSU guidelines.
Starting with this past year (2005), the Master Gardener year runs from January
1 to December 31. The re-certification requirements for each year will continue
to be 15 volunteer hours and 5 education hours.
MGGD keeps an ongoing list of volunteer opportunities to help you maintain
your certification. MGGD does not manage the individual projects, rather it
provides the information to you for your action. The list below is only a
partial list of projects going on within Wayne County. The MGGD and/or MSU
Extension emailings provide a much more comprehensive and up-to-date
availability of volunteer opportunities.

Reporting Your Hours
For the 2005 MG year, hours must be completed between January 1 and December
31 of 2005 and received by the Extension office by January 15, 2006. The
MSU Master Gardener website has an online reporting tool with a complete
"how to" guide - please link to this site at the address below to
enter your hours:

There is also a form that can be printed and mailed in if you do not yet have
a userid for the above system:

Education Hours
Don’t forget that your education hours can be met by attending an MGGD
meeting. The speakers at these meetings are very informative and provide insight
to different aspects of gardening that help further your knowledge and
education.
